Position Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter – Cargo Marine to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assess and analyze marine cargo risks, develop underwriting standards, and provide comprehensive insurance solutions that meet the needs of our clients. Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment: Evaluate marine cargo insurance applications to determine risks and exposures, using a variety of analytical techniques and expertise.
Underwriting Standards: Develop, implement, and monitor underwriting standards and guidelines to ensure profitable growth and compliance with industry regulations.
Policy Development: Design and negotiate policy terms and conditions, crafting insurance solutions that align with clients’ needs and organizational objectives.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information, provide quotes, and ensure seamless policy issuance and renewals.
Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the marine cargo insurance portfolio, making data-driven decisions to enhance profitability and manage risks.
Training in London: Participate in a specialized training program in London to gain insights into global underwriting practices and enhance professional skills.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on marine insurance regulations, market trends, and industry developments to ensure compliance and active risk management.
Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on underwriting activities, risk profiles, and portfolio performance for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in marine cargo insurance underwriting or a related field.
Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills; proficiency in underwriting software and risk assessment tools.
Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Travel: Willingness to travel for training in London and occasional meetings or conferences as required.
