Senior Legal Counsel – Insurance Claims

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel – Insurance Claims to join our esteemed legal team. The candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in handling complex insurance claim disputes, providing strategic legal advice, and guiding our organization through regulatory compliance issues. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

– Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice on complex insurance claims, policy interpretations, and regulatory matters.

– Claims Management: Oversee and manage all legal aspects of insurance claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

–  Litigation Support: Lead and support litigation processes, including drafting legal documents, managing discovery, and representing the company in court.

–  Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all insurance operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations; stay updated on legal changes and advise accordingly.

–  Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks related to insurance claims and develop strategies to mitigate them.

–  Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including claims, underwriting, and compliance, to align legal strategies with business objectives.

–  External Counsel Management: Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring efficient and cost-effective legal services.

Qualifications

– Education: Law degree from an accredited law school.

– Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of legal experience in insurance claims, with a proven track record of handling complex cases.

–  Licensure:  Active bar membership in at least one jurisdiction; multi-state licensure is a plus.

–  Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
