With Purpose and Vision: Virginia Tutino’s Journey in Building RisQFlex
Growing up in the family business, where her father owned an insurance brokerage firm, Virginia was immersed in the industry from a young age. These early experiences instilled in her a profound understanding and passion for the industry, fueling her commitment to one day create something impactful within it.
After reflecting on her career and the experiences of the remarkable people she met along the way, Virginia founded RisQFlex with a vision to elevate the visibility of the Risk & Insurance industry, assist employers in addressing talent shortages, and support career growth. The platform aims to foster meaningful connections between employers and talented professionals while enhancing company culture and promoting workforce diversity.
Virginia is dedicated to building strong partnerships grounded in long-term relationships, collaboration, transparency, and trust. She maintains that respect, empathy, and a commitment to employee wellbeing are essential for cultivating an inclusive work environment, driving the success of both employees and employers. Virginia firmly believes that an excellent employee experience naturally leads to an exceptional customer experience, which is fundamental to the industry’s success.
With over 20 years of experience, Virginia has held several key positions in the Risk Management and Insurance departments of major Canadian multinationals. This includes serving as Vice-President at one of the world’s major engineering firms, where she manages the global insurance department and leads a team of skilled professionals. She also spearheaded the company’s ED&I Montreal chapter and was a core member of its Canadian Committee supporting the company’s ESG vision and strategy.
Throughout her career, Virginia has been actively engaged in the industry by serving on boards, speaking at conferences, volunteering, and mentoring. She is also involved in charitable organizations supporting education, youth, and community efforts.
Virginia is a standing member of the Quebec Bar and holds a Bachelor of Law as well as a Master’s in Business Law. Her deep interest in the industry also motivated her to obtain her insurance broker’s license. She is a strong advocate for ED&I matters, which led her to complete a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from the renowned Cornell University, USA. As a lifelong learner, she has participated in numerous leadership programs, including the Executive Leadership Development Program at the prestigious Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, UK.
Her extensive experience in both the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds has given her a profound understanding of the needs of both employees and employers. Virginia excels at aligning their goals for performance and advancement to ensure mutual success.
Virginia lives in the vibrant, multicultural city of Montreal with her husband and two sons. Fluent in four languages, she enjoys traveling, immersing herself in different cultures, and connecting with people over good food and coffee. She aims to infuse these enriching experiences into RisQFlex, creating a warm and dynamic vibe.
